    Gleiwitz, a subcamp of Auschwitz,  was a complex of four camps working for various mining and industrial companies and railroad repair.  Below are thumbnails of a lettercard from prisoner #44242 at the Gleiwitz IV camp postmarked August 9, 1944.  Gleiwitz IV was in existence from July 1944 to January 1945.   The lettercard is identified in Lordahl as type L1a and bears a type C12 censor mark.  Please click on the thumbnail to see the full image, and then click your back key or "Example 1" in the left frame to return.
