        Linz was the site of three subcamps of Mauthausen.  There had been a Jewish community in Linz prior to the Anschluss in 1938.  The synagogue was destroyed during Kristallnacht, and the remaining Jews were deported to Vienna.  

Folded Letters 

    Below are thumbnails of a folded letter from a prisoner, Konstantin Curezk to Sosnowitz postmarked December 20, 1943.  This letter is from the first Linz camp which was established in January, 1943.   The folded letter is identified in Lordahl as Type F5Bx with a Type C2 censor mark and a Type SC5a special cachet limiting the number of letters or cards to one.  Please click on the thumbnail to see the full image, and then click your back key or "Folded Letters" in the left frame to return.
