Sweden

General

After the war, the Swedes took in thousands of surviviors of the Nazi camps. To help fund this work, the Jewish community in Sweden had already levied a tax on its members before the end of the war. Funds were also received from the Joint Distribution Committee and the Swedish government.

Doverstorp

Doverstorp was an internment camp located in Sweden.  Below are thumbnails of the front and back of a postcard dated June 21, 1945, from the internment camp at Doverstorp to Palestine. The writer was a forced labor prisoner from Berlin rescued by the Swedish Red Cross. He writes that his whole family is dead, and he is the only survivior of these horrors.
