The postcard below depicts the synagogue in Subotica (Szabad), Serbia.  The pictured synagogue was built in 1901 and is one of the best surviving examples of religious architecture in the Art Nouveau style.  At the start of World War II, the Jewish population of Subotica was about 6,000 out of a total population of 100,000.  Very few survived the war.  As of 1970, the Jewish population was estimated at about 400.
