Vinogradov is a city located in the Subcarpathian Ruthenia region of western Ukraine. Prior to World War I, the town was part of Hungary and known as Nagyszollos. After World War I, the area passed among different countries until 1945, when it became part of the Soviet Union. According to the 1939 census, there were about 8,400 Jews in the city. Few survived the war. Among the sites depicted in the postcard below is the synagogue in Vinogradov. This postcard was published prior to the end of World War I when the city was known as Nagyszollos.
